The questions we are asked most.
Lessons
- What instruments and subjects do you teach?
- Piano, Electronic Keyboard, Guitar (both classical and plectrum/acoustic), Western Voice, Theory of Music, and Music History and Appreciation.
- What format are the classes?
- Lessons are one-to-one. The exceptions are Theory of Music, which can be taken individually or in a small group, and Music History and Appreciation, which is taught only in groups.
- How often are lessons?
- Music school lessons are once a week. The conservatory programme is full-time and follows a semester timetable.
- Can I learn online?
- Yes. We teach in person, online, and in a hybrid arrangement. Our online programme takes students anywhere in the world.
Enrolment
- What is the minimum age? Is there a maximum?
- The minimum age is five. There is no maximum — we have taught students well into retirement, and nobody has ever been too old to start.
- Do you offer a trial lesson?
- Yes, by appointment. Get in touch and we will arrange one.
- What levels do you teach?
- Beginner through to advanced, on every instrument listed. Several of our students are working at diploma level.
- Do you run crash courses or summer camps?
- Yes. Crash courses are arranged according to the age and requirements of the student, and we run summer camps for children. Masterclasses are offered at all levels, and accelerated courses are available to adult students on request.
Practice
- Do I need an instrument at home?
- Yes. Daily practice is what makes lessons worth taking. You can begin without one for about a month — roughly four lessons — but no longer than that. We will help you choose an instrument if you would like.
- How much should a student practise?
- Ideally every day, for twenty to sixty minutes depending on level. Four to six times a week is acceptable if the student is genuinely busy. Consistency matters more than duration.
Examinations
- Which examination boards are you affiliated with?
- Trinity College London, ABRSM, MTB, and the London College of Music.
- How do students enter for examinations?
- A student is entered when their teacher judges the work to be genuinely ready, not according to a fixed timetable. Forms are filed three to four months before the examination, and the full syllabus must be complete before they are submitted.
Practical
- Where are you located?
- Our conservatory and school are in Balewadi, Pune. We also teach students across India and abroad online.
- How are payments made?
- By UPI or bank transfer. Details are shared at the time of registration.
- Will you help me buy an instrument?
- Yes. We advise on instruments and where to buy them, matched to your budget and requirements — and we run a full piano consultancy service for anyone making a larger purchase.
- Do you offer teacher training?
- Yes. Teacher training and long-term mentorship for music educators has been part of what we do from the beginning, and pedagogy is a formal subject on the conservatory programme.
